[2023/09/22 17:48] Alicia Frakture: Leesha draws her wrench."No idea, but he is a big one."
[2023/09/24 16:05] Sonja Bikergrrl: What now?
[2023/09/24 16:06] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: knives like fish deboners, or knives like shortswords?
[2023/09/24 16:06] Sonja Bikergrrl: I think I specified: "An old cleaver".
[2023/09/24 16:07] Alicia Frakture: Leasha looks at him."You really want to do this?"

[2023/09/24 16:08] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Whoever paid you to do this, you made a mistake thinking you could win this assault."
[2023/09/24 16:09] Sonja Bikergrrl: He looks from Leesha to Debben, then to Dahlia, and laughs again. "MWAH HAH HA!"
[2023/09/24 16:10] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben glances to either side. Is this laughing jerk the distraction while others get into position around him? Does he even speak a real language?
[2023/09/24 16:10] Sonja Bikergrrl: Dahlia, Leesha?
[2023/09/24 16:10] Alicia Frakture: Leesha looks at him and turns her face to the most Maniacal look she can and responds MUAH HA HA HAAAAHHHH!
[2023/09/24 16:12] ɗίηα ωíƖɗę ღ (dinadrone): trying not to laugh in this scary situation as Leesha laughs back at the cleaver carrying person, "Maybe that could lead to proper communication"
[2023/09/24 16:13] Sonja Bikergrrl: The guy looks disconcerted by this "challange" from Leesha, but before he can respond there's a voice calling out: "Cleetus...? Cleetus! What in the name of the seven hells... Have you done your chores, boy?" You can see him visibly cringe and shrink, with an "Aw, ma...!"
[2023/09/24 16:15] Alicia Frakture: Leesha hears this and puts the wrench back as she relaxes a bit
[2023/09/24 16:16] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben's eyes twitch as her spear stays up, though backing away one step, greatly on edge after this cleetus is... does he *look* like he's a kid?
[2023/09/24 16:17] Sonja Bikergrrl: An old lady with a broom in her hands comes out. "Cleetus! You get to your chores right now, you hear?" He looks sulky and slinks back. "Aw, ma...!" The old lady - dressed as a peasant - turns to you all and says, "Sorry, Cleetus gets a bit bored... hasn't been the same since the horse kicked him in the head. Bit simple, but wouldn't hurt a fly."
[2023/09/24 16:17] Sonja Bikergrrl: He looks like a kid if kids are six foot tall and packed with muscle.
[2023/09/24 16:17] Alicia Frakture: Leesha nods."It is nice to meet you Cleetus."
[2023/09/24 16:18] Sonja Bikergrrl: Cleetus disappears back where he came from, with a last "Aw, ma...!"
[2023/09/24 16:19] Alicia Frakture: Leesha looks at the mom. "He appeared out of nowhere with the knife. We weren't sure what was going on."
[2023/09/24 16:20] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "He came upon travelers waving cleavers at us." Debben reprimands. "If we'd been jumpier we might have put a real wound him in him."
[2023/09/24 16:20] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Yah, he likes to scare folk... I try to keep him busy." She follows after him. "I got my eye on you, you get to them chores!"
[2023/09/24 16:20] ɗίηα ωíƖɗę ღ (dinadrone): "Very glad to find out more about you Cleetus, and nice to meet you "
[2023/09/24 16:21] Sonja Bikergrrl: Onwards?
[2023/09/24 16:21] Alicia Frakture: yeah, onwards
[2023/09/24 16:21] Sonja Bikergrrl: Onwards you go... and you haven't more than an hour when you here a thrashing and a commotion in the bushes up ahead.
[2023/09/24 16:22] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: What kind of bushes are they?
[2023/09/24 16:22] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: leafy, thorny, something with color to it?
[2023/09/24 16:22] Sonja Bikergrrl: Bushy ones? idk... just... bushes.
[2023/09/24 16:22] Sonja Bikergrrl: Mostly leafy, not very thorny.
[2023/09/24 16:23] Alicia Frakture: Leesha is not going to react, in case it was the one from before meeting Cleetus
[2023/09/24 16:24] Sonja Bikergrrl: A man blunders out of the bush, brushing himself down, turning to curse at someone still thrashing about within the mass of branches and leaves. "Well it clearly isn't there, is it??"
[2023/09/24 16:24] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: so probably not a dangerous bush. A thrashing like two things fighting or like two teens going at it?
[2023/09/24 16:25] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Oh. "Afternoon. Who might you be?"
[2023/09/24 16:26] Sonja Bikergrrl: It's the man from the inn the previous night, who was enquiring after Megan. For a moment he stares at you in surprise. "Oh! Well met," he says, the usual greeting among strangers. He carefully holds out his hands. "It's you, again?"
[2023/09/24 16:27] Alicia Frakture: /me nods."It's us again."
[2023/09/24 16:27] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Apparently so," she replies. "You seem to be looking for something?"
[2023/09/24 16:28] Sonja Bikergrrl: Another figure stumbles out of the bush. It's the mans' friend, also from the night before. "Well it's here somewh - " he catches sight of you all " - oh, you again."
[2023/09/24 16:29] ɗίηα ωíƖɗę ღ (dinadrone): /me has a look of surprise with so many things going on in and around bushes "Hello, good to see you"
[2023/09/24 16:29] Sonja Bikergrrl: There's clearly not much chance for deception for these two. The one you spoke with the night before says, "We're looking for a magic book, it's somewhere in the area... have you seen it?"
[2023/09/24 16:30] Alicia Frakture: /me raises her eyebrow."Wow I was so wrong about what I thought you were looking for."
[2023/09/24 16:30] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "What sort of magic was in it?" Debben inquires, to verify her suspicious.
[2023/09/24 16:31] Sonja Bikergrrl: The man looks suspicious. "What? I told you... we're honest merchants, we're looking for a book... we put a lot of work Megans' way."
[2023/09/24 16:31] Sonja Bikergrrl: The man answers Debben, looking a bit unsure. "Well... magic... it's a magic book..."
[2023/09/24 16:32] Alicia Frakture: Never said you weren't honest but thought you were looking for... You know what, it doesn't matter.
[2023/09/24 16:32] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Have you... seen any magic books...?"
[2023/09/24 16:33] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "I am a practicing wizard, fully half my texts are or relate to magic in some sense. You will have to be more specific if you wish me to be of assistance."
[2023/09/24 16:34] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Well... it's magic... we're not wizards! We don't know. It's a rare magic book. We're happy to buy it, or hire you to find it."
[2023/09/24 16:35] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: An idea occurs to her. "As it happens, we were headed to a location we suspect may have magical texts still in it. It is somewhat hazardous, though. Would you be interested in helping us search and disarm it?"
[2023/09/24 16:35] Alicia Frakture: Leesha shrugs as this is more Debben and Dahlias wheelhouse as she stands there taking some cheese from her bag and eating.
[2023/09/24 16:36] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Hazard... eh, no. That was Megans' side of things. Anyway.... it's somewhere here, close by. We'll just keep looking, I think."
[2023/09/24 16:38] Alicia Frakture: *Ha ha did not split the party this time **
[2023/09/24 16:38] ɗίηα ωíƖɗę ღ (dinadrone): /me listened as they spoke of magic texts wondering if they had a specific one they were seeking and what school of magic it might be. , "I'm sure we will find interesting things there. But if they don't know anything of magic how do they know what specific book they seek as there really are a rather large amount of magical schools and pursuits."

[2023/09/24 16:39] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "What do you know of books, that you think searching bushes is a useful approach?"
[2023/09/24 16:39] ɗίηα ωíƖɗę ღ (dinadrone): "That is a very strange place to search for a book of any type"
[2023/09/24 16:40] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Told you," the man said, with some impatience. "It's around here somewhere..." The other man pulls a map out and they both pore over it. "We'll find it... never you worry."
[2023/09/24 16:41] Alicia Frakture: Leesha shakes her head."Good on ya, hope you find it." Before looking at the others."Shall we?"
[2023/09/24 16:41] Sonja Bikergrrl: Debben gets to roll a d20... under 14, ideally

[2023/09/24 16:43] Sonja Bikergrrl: You're aware you're still being "shadowed". Debben -just- hears, right on the edge of hearing, "nasty men looking... go tell..." and a rustling some distance away.
[2023/09/24 16:45] Sonja Bikergrrl: Moving on?
[2023/09/24 16:46] Alicia Frakture: Moving on sounds good
[2023/09/24 16:46] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Keeping her expression level, she offers a simple parting pleasantry to the bush-inspectors and continues down the path, looking for a semi plausible detour. With them being followed, trying to delve the tower with a mystery at their back seems unwise. She'll attempt to avoid anywhere that would lead them into a likely ambush, hoping to reverse the situation. Perhaps.... where around here would deny plausible cover to a shadow team?
[2023/09/24 16:47] Sonja Bikergrrl: Where indeed... woods and scrubland offer almost infinite possibility for attackers. Although... you've not been attacked.
[2023/09/24 16:49] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Scrubland might be better then, since at least the plant-life is shorter and thinner. She'll look for a decently promising clearly near the road from which to turn around and remark. "You're not as stealthy as you think you are. Come out and speak to us straight."
[2023/09/24 16:50] Sonja Bikergrrl: About the only response to this is a muffled yip and a brief rustling.
[2023/09/24 16:51] Alicia Frakture: Leesha actually looks like side eye at the yip and rustling."Didn't work this time either."
[2023/09/24 16:51] Sonja Bikergrrl: -silence-
[2023/09/24 16:54] Sonja Bikergrrl: Continuing to the tower, or, got some other plan?
[2023/09/24 16:54] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "They haven't attacked, yet, and aren't interested in talking. Suggesting spys of some sort, which suggests they have a handler."
[2023/09/24 16:55] Alicia Frakture: I say tower but it is up to the other two
[2023/09/24 16:56] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben looks to see what Dhalia's thoughts on the matter are.
[2023/09/24 16:57] ɗίηα ωíƖɗę ღ (dinadrone): could possibly try to find the spies but tower sounds better

[2023/09/24 16:57] Alicia Frakture: *Nods*
[2023/09/24 16:59] Sonja Bikergrrl: It turns out the rest of the morning is much less eventful. Before many more hours pass, you are close enough to see the tower... although now smoke trails out of the windows and doorway. Before the door, some distance away be still before the door, stands the zombie you saw last time, now with a piece of paper apparantly nailed to its' forehead.
[2023/09/24 17:00] Alicia Frakture: Oh Leesha is running up to the zombie and tries to read the paper
[2023/09/24 17:00] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Looks like someone got to it first," she comments, walking up to squint and the paper on the zombie from a meaningful distance away in case it suddenly starts moving.
[2023/09/24 17:01] Sonja Bikergrrl: The zombie just stands there, unmoving, as you approach.
[2023/09/24 17:01] Sonja Bikergrrl: Leesha can see the paper has writing on it.
[2023/09/24 17:02] Alicia Frakture: Leesha tries to read it, hopefully it's a language she knows
[2023/09/24 17:03] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "A bounty? Some sort of taunt?"
[2023/09/24 17:04] ɗίηα ωíƖɗę ღ (dinadrone): /me examines the zombie making sure it was the one I turned before and looks to see if its state has changed in any way
[2023/09/24 17:05] Sonja Bikergrrl: It's written in Common, so, you can certainly get the gist of it... "To those who raided my base and killed Cassie. You think you were clever, but I'll have the last laugh when I slay you and raise your corpses to be my slaves for unspeakable acts. But not yet, first you'll suffer in this life. You, and your families first. I've torched the tower, so you'll find no clues - don't bother to examine the zombie, it's about to explode... about now!"
[2023/09/24 17:06] Alicia Frakture: * have to do this for cinimatic., hope it is okay.*
[2023/09/24 17:06] Sonja Bikergrrl: (is sure this will make an awesome cliffhanger...)
[2023/09/24 17:06] Alicia Frakture: Leesha snatches the note from the zombie as she says Mother Fu... right before explosion
[2023/09/24 17:07] Sonja Bikergrrl: saving throws all round!

[2023/09/24 17:08] Alicia Frakture: *A tie Lol*

[2023/09/24 17:10] Sonja Bikergrrl: The zombie groans then -explodes-, spraying blood, body parts, shards of bone far and wide. Luckily Leesha and Dahlia nimbly dodge the worst of the blast, but are still slightly injured. Debben however - luckily she got a level up, or the explosion right in her face would be fatal. As it is, she's flung back and severely wounded, almost fatally so.
